A year of growth
The year 2020 will go down in history for many reasons. With offices shutting their doors in March to protect staff, the new way of working became from home, with a long list of Zoom calls keeping workforces on the same page – to much success!
This success was certainly felt at Eleven Recruitment with consultants continuing to speak with the market daily. But it wasn’t just existing staff that impressed; we had several new starters join our team days before lockdown too.
A growing team
During lockdown, Eleven hired five new team members and welcomed back one colleague, filling desks with industry experts with varied backgrounds, including pharmaceuticals, publishing, and owning recruitment companies to name a few.
After running a successful recruitment business for 10 years, Andrew brings expertise in leading executive search and talent mapping to lead the speciality chemicals, fuels and lubricants team.
Rebecca began her career in science research, moving into bioscience before wanting to utilise her vast knowledge and extensive research skills to recruit. At Eleven, Rebecca specialises in the front office recruiting mid-senior level commodity power professionals across the UK, Europe APAC and America.
With a background in recruitment, Rob is well positioned for finding the right people for roles within the oil trading, physical commodity broking, commercial shipping and chartering sectors.
Annie has previously worked in recruitment across financial services, publishing, media and retail to name a few and is well placed to join the recruitment team specialising across back and middle office.
Back into the fold
As well as hiring new staff, Eleven also welcomed back former employee Emma Lees in March. Emma began her Eleven career in 2016, working on the busy fuels desk, recruiting for a wide range of positions in the fuel oil distribution and fuel card sectors.
Emma commented on her enjoyment of the role; “I enjoyed learning about fuel and fuel cards, they were new products and industries for me and what immediately struck me was how friendly the professionals are who work in those niche sectors. They were a pleasure to speak to.”
Emma left the then called Oil Recruitment on extremely good terms in July 2018 but was ‘delighted’ to be back at her desk in March 2020. “I felt as if I had never really left but realised I had missed the buzz of the recruitment industry. I am also very impressed with the company’s new website, loved the rebrand and the company strategies which involved focussing on top quality candidate and client service.”
“Being away from Eleven made me realise what a good employer and company it is. The working environment is autonomous, you have an opportunity to do your best and be rewarded for it and the culture is very family orientated and flexible which means I can balance the demands of a busy home life with an interesting and challenging career.”
Emma is currently a Business Development Consultant on our speciality chemical and lubricants niche desk. Albeit a completely new sector to Emma, she is learning the ropes quickly and enjoying relationship building with prospective clients in our global marketplace. “We have a very strong, experienced and talented team and I think our sector will continue to excel in the coming months,” Emma commented.
Existing staff worked tirelessly to complete the onboarding processes remotely, and we are now fortunate enough to be able to work safely together in our Knutsford based office, albeit at a distance.
We look forward to seeing what the rest of this year will bring.
