We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Account Manager with a background in Speciality Chemicals to join a leading multinational Chemical Distributor. Reporting directly into the Business Manager for the Specialities Division you will typically have operated in the Coatings, Inks, Adhesives, Lubricant or Plastics sectors. You will be assigned a portfolio of large accounts in the Southern half of the UK. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing their assigned accounts and identifying new business development opportunities through upselling, cross selling, and lead generation.

To achieve overall sales targets and maximize the uncapped earning potential you will have an excellent technical knowledge of coatings, inks, or plastics, a driven and motivated personality coupled with exceptional account management skills. Operating from a home office you will be ideally situated to cover the South of the UK up to the Midlands region.

Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision makers and buyers by offering technical support, advice, and guidance on products
Implement strategic and tactical initiatives to achieve revenue, margin, volume targets and overall customer satisfaction
Implement the Account Plan covering products, services packages, contracts, prices, credit terms and credit limits for customers and prospects
Understand and assess customers' needs, business objectives, strategies and build customer value propositions representing a portfolio of products
Prospect and develop new accounts using a structured and effective preparation, presentation and negotiation technique
Have an in depth knowledge of the key competitors to understand their strengths and weaknesses
Sales forecasting, reporting, contract negotiation, pricing and market analysis.
Understand and keep track of the changing market and customer needs/business environments to ensure the most appropriate action to meet requirements
Reporting and forecasting
Maintenance of key prospect database and reports
HSE Awareness

Chemistry or Science related degree
Excellent technical knowledge of the raw materials used in the Coatings, inks, adhesives and related industries
Minimum 3 years experience in commercial / business account management
Sales and business development experience in one or more of the following markets: coatings, inks, paints, adhesives, lubricants
Experienced in delivering client focused solutions based on customer needs
Results oriented, highly motivated, with strong work ethic
Comfortable working autonomously
Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
Proven negotiation, influence / persuasion and presentation skills
Proficient in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Demonstrable track record of selling & negotiation, results delivery, customer relationship management, and market awareness.
