Our client is a refinery owning business specialising in the production and trading of industrial commodities. Founded in 1990, they employ more than 650 people across 7 locations in 5 countries around the world and are committed to continued growth.

Based in London and Geneva it is engaged in the sourcing, refining, marketing and trading of physical crude oil, petroleum products and related financial derivatives. The main trading office is in London.

They produce 4.5 million tons of refined products each year including petrol, diesel and aviation fuel. Furthermore, it produces light heating oil as well as important feedstocks for the chemical industry.

They are committed to further expanding their portfolio of oil refineries and developing a fully integrated global oil trading business to support them.

As a member of the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be accountable for all financial aspects of the refining, trading and commercial sales activities based in the UK, Germany and Switzerland.

Ensuring that all financing needs of the business are adequately provided for, including Inventory & receivables financing.
Leading and coaching the Finance & Accounting team
Developing and maintaining relationships with investors, finance providers, auditors and other external stakeholders
Reporting monthly, quarterly and annual financial results to senior management
Ensuring appropriate controls are in place to mitigate financial risk, monitoring compliance against these and reporting any issues to the risk committee
Working in partnership with the CEO to create and subsequently deliver the annual business plan and budget
Developing performance measures and reporting performance against these, to drive commercial performance
Managing all finance and accounting aspects of any M&A projects, from due diligence through to acquisition and subsequent business integration.

A proven track record of leading and delivering superior performance, preferably gained in an international oil trading & refining environment
Excellent understanding of commercial drivers and how to add value to organisations
Delivery focussed having had tangible success in leading multi-disciplined commercial and finance teams
An accomplished manager with well-developed networking, communication, facilitation, and influencing skills
Strong financial and analytic skills
Experience of managing M&A due diligence and business integration
Able to make quick decisions and operate in a fast changing, entrepreneurial environment
