Job Title: Commercial Manager
Location: Malta
Sector: Lubricants - Distributor Management

Our client, one of the world's largest oil brands in the downstream sector, are looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to join their European team. Based in Malta this is an excellent opportunity for someone with senior leadership experience to work alongside the VP for Europe and the Group Commercial Team taking on leadership responsibility in supporting global operations and the running of the Malta office.

The role requires a very strong commercial background (ideally from the lubricants sector), a hands on approach, and will have a focus on commercial operations, supply chain optimisation and business development within Europe. Typically you will have a good mix of functional and leadership skills, experience of working with / managing Distributors, and excellent relationship building skills from good cultural awareness. The role is approximately 70% farming but with excellent opportunities to develop new business you will also possess hunting attributes and have experience of developing new business through relationship management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, lead and manage all commercial activities of the business
Liaise with other department heads on implementation of the company's strategic and operational plans
Develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the key customers/ target audience to ensure that their needs are being met and that their business is retained
Distributor management - optimising and monitoring the network
Develop and implement a commercial strategy, focusing primarily on new product areas and emerging markets, ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the team
Ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated in all areas and that commercial success is achieved
Support new business development activities (benchmarking, competitive intelligence)
Competitor and market analysis
Product price setting for Europe
Maintain pipeline of new partnership opportunities designed to drive revenue, new customers and extend the brand
Liaise regularly with Directors/VP's

KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
Experience in business development activities and strategic partnerships.
A quantitative or business related (MBA) degree is highly desirable
Solid commercial lubricants background - essential
A first class track record in identifying, negotiating, activating and managing strategic partnerships / relationships
Lubricant Distributor management experience, able to take ownership of the relationships whilst working autonomously
Experience of License management for multiple Countries
Previous exposure to strategic relations, price planning, and risk management
Previous experience in project management and improvement/change management preferred
Hunter / Farmer attributes
Experience of growing a leading brand
Highly organized, self motivated, with good time management skills
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills at all levels
Fluent in English with Maltese or any additional European languages being highly desirable
Flexible approach to business travel
Able to operate from a home office or Valetta office
Malta residency is essential - either currently based here or able to relocate


REMUNERATION
