Overview:
My client are experts creating shared value through initiatives which reduce cost, drive efficiency and deliver sustainability e.g. participation in demand side response (DSR), deploying innovative storage solutions, energy monitoring and targeting and energy risk management.

Purpose:
To act as principle in the evaluation of concepts and ideas and to develop and deliver new products and ways of working which will increase margins, strengthen retention and make a significant contribution to EBITDA.
To lead a team of Analysts in the delivery of energy solutions, in line with the business plan objectives.

Dimensions:
Support margin growth and requisite volume retention over the term of 5 year retail strategy.

Key Accountabilities:
Develop the ES solutions function to improve capability and help create new enduring revenue streams
Lead, motivate and develop a team of ES analysts to deliver the objectives of the ES plan.
Develop the analytical capability within the ES function to evaluate opportunities, develop solutions and inform the wider business on strategy and investment decisions.
Oversee the development and interrogation of commercial and financial models, identifying and articulating scenarios as appropriate.
Establish a robust framework, including appropriate governance, for evaluation, design, authorisation and implementation of ES initiatives in conjunction with key stakeholders.
Work closely with external partners where the company has limited or no capability in a specific area.
Present recommendations to Senior Management clearly demonstrating business benefits and associated risks. Articulate recommendations succinctly, confidently and with integrity.
Put in place clear delivery plans to enable either the direct implementation of new initiatives within the Commercial team (wholly or in part) or to establish and embed the activities within other areas
Support the operational delivery of ES initiatives across the company promoting exemplary customer service.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
Experience of leading and motivating a team whilst building a new function.
A deep understanding of the UK energy markets as well as good insight into customer behaviours.
Experience of analysing business cases and contributing to financial modelling.
The ability to confidently articulate and communicate complex issues at a senior level, both verbally and in writing.
Experience of, building relationships and working with external partners.
Ability to work with internal stakeholders across the business to deliver results on time & on budget.
Capable of determining priorities from conflicting work demands.
Strong analytical and numerate skills including advanced excel. VBA and SQL are desirable.

Measures of Success:
ES initiatives make a positive contribution to the P&L and improve retention.
ES delivers a "solutions" function which supports the evaluation and implementation of new concepts and ideas.
Good relationships are developed both internally and externally, leading to better ways of working and long term partnerships.
ES initiatives are effective in delivering value for both the company and the customer.
ES initiatives are delivered in a timely and expedient manner (note, success may include testing the market and failing fast).
Interactions with key stakeholders are high quality with feedback indicating that the individual is valued by the business.
