Reporting into the Head of Terminals you will be responsible for developing, by the application of engineering expertise, the infrastructure and facilities at all terminals to demonstrate to the regulators its commitment to legal compliance and application of industry best practice. Also demonstrate to customers an innovative technology based approach to meeting their needs.

To support, when required, engineering activities carried out across the business, ensuring all engineering works are being carried out in respect to current Standards, Regulations, Legislations and methods of good practice. Also, work with partners and third-party businesses to improve facilities or carry out projects being undertaken.

Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:-

Manage all maintenance, electrical and engineering staff at terminals, including both direct line management and dotted-line reporting as appropriate.
Oversee design, cost, construction, modification and commission of facility enhancements or changes at the terminals to improve customer service, safety of personnel, operational/engineering processes and equipment efficiency.
Plan, design, manage, commission and maintain development projects/major overhauls as determined by the business.
Be responsible for the maintaining operation of all terminal Control Systems specific to the Terminal.
Ensure that all terminal plant and equipment is inspected in line with latest recognised legislation and standards as applicable and notify the Head OF Terminals and Competent Authorities of any non-conformances against legislation or regulations, such as LOLER/PSSR Regulation notifications.
Responsible for the introduction, development and maintenance of a Computerised Maintenance Management System for the terminals, including all related procedures and systems.
Determine the correct intervals for maintenance, inspection and testing of all assets at the terminals. Apply Risk Based Assessment where appropriate to maximise efficiency of asset life.
Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in the terminals and other group functions in order to maximise the effectiveness of technical developments to improve terminals performance.
Interpret and execute on behalf of the terminals, the end requirements of legislation directives such as ATEX 95, DSEAR, Pressure Systems Regulations 1989, Highly Flammable Liquids and Liquefied Gas Regulations 1972 and COMAH Regulations and all Environmental Protection driven legislation.
Take into consideration that the terminal operating environment is characterised by a high level of risk associated with the majority of products handled. The ability to evolve and improve safe working systems by technological innovation provides an opportunity for differentiation from our competitors.
Communicate effectively with all personnel to ensure that all engineering activities allow safe, efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the terminals' activities.
Ensure that documented records of engineering and maintenance activities are maintained.
Overall responsibility for all maintenance of plant and equipment at the terminals.
To ensure that all work undertaken by terminals' personnel and/or other third parties, is carried out safely to a recognised standard.
To establish critical and minimum levels of spares for breakdown purposes with special regard to major accident hazard safety critical plant/systems.

Responsible for development and review of all engineering and maintenance related policies and procedures for the terminals.
Responsible for all engineering and maintenance related aspects of the management of Major Accident Hazards at the terminals in accordance with COMAH guidelines.
Responsible for Engineering aspects of Management of Change in respect to plant modifications, design, new installations, commissioning, decommissioning, procedural changes & operating/engineering set parameters.
In conjunction with the Terminals Management team, prepare for and attend all Competent Authority intervention visits with responsibility for all engineering and maintenance related aspects of such interventions and any related actions and recommendations received.
When required, work with the Head of Terminals and Directors on projects such as acquisitions or developments at third party terminals.
Support engineering activities in other aspects of the business such as management of contractors, audits, gap analysis & projects at third party sites.
Responsible for setting and managing budgets in respect to engineering and maintenance activities at all terminals

Mechanical Engineering Degree
