Job Title: EU Regulatory Compliance manager

We have an excellent career opportunity for someone with a chemistry or science related degree and experience in regulatory chemical compliance to join a leading global developer and manufacturer of speciality chemical solutions. Reporting to the Regional Compliance Manager you will lead a team of regional product compliance specialists to monitor, develop and implement product regulatory compliance strategies and programs to ensure compliance with all regional/EU chemical control laws for new and existing substances.

This will be an ideal position for someone with a strong background in EU REACH Compliance in specialty chemicals, advanced materials, biocides, toxicology or other related field.
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead and manage strategic regulatory compliance activities for the business in the assigned region.
Fulfilment of the chemical regulatory requirements for additive packages and advanced materials
Monitor existing compliance requirements and manage continuous improvement of related guidelines and processes to meet all regulatory framework conditions
Support compliance process development and optimisation
Lead the team to complete new and existing chemical notifications and application registrations to gain regulatory clearance for the import, manufacture, and/or use of new and existing chemistry and products
Build up capability within the team to proactively monitor, evaluate business impact, and communicate new and amended legislation and regulations
Work closely with other members of the global regulatory team on compliance related topics and externally with trade associations and EU authorities
Lead the team to provide regulatory guidance/consultancy to business and R&D organisations in the region on compliance strategies for new and existing products
Assist in the training, development, and management of a team of product compliance specialists.
Proactively identify and resolve potential product compliance issues to minimise impact on manufacture and sale of products
Key skills/attributes required:
Relevant degree qualifications in chemistry, toxicology, chemical engineering, or related scientific discipline
5+ years experience in product regulatory compliance management EU REACH being essential
A strong knowledge of chemical regulations (REACH, CLP, GHS) is essential
A good understanding of regulatory frameworks, the use of REACH-IT, IUCLID, compilation of SDS/MSDS, hazard classifications, impact analysis etc
Establish an in-depth knowledge of the businesses including chemistry, product lines, markets served, business strategies, and business processes
Ability to understand and interpret emerging regulations
Proven team leadership / mentoring skills
Project management experience
Self-motivated, results driven and comfortable working in a global team environment
Strong knowledge of related fields of hazard communication, transportation regulations, and toxicology is a plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient with computer relational databases and common business related computer software programs such as SAP
