​We are looking for a Junior Level Trading Analyst to join an international energy trading house in Central London.

The role, working with the Shipping, Chartering and Operations departments, under supervision of senior members of the team, will be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of the trading strategy of the Global Crude Trading team.

The role reports directly to the Head of Global Crude Trading and will work closely with Trading, Operations, Upstream Marketing, Middle office and Back office functions.

1. Support traders in the following activities:

  • Analysis of client and market data in order to help develop and execute trades.

  • Data entry for cargo purchases and sales, hedges, freight and logistics costs, purchase and sales prices and additional costs related to each transaction.

  • Data entry of derivatives transactions

  • Cargo Tracking - set up, maintain and improve a “cargo tracking” excel sheet (vessels b/l, destination, ws rate.)

  • Consulting with Middle Office for P&L reconciliation.

2. Prepare various reports, calculations and research projects:

  • Market analysis (supply and demand, global arbitrage, margins).

  • Internal reports on trading activity.

  • Daily update of excel sheet, reflecting the Market Structure (time spreads).

  • Arb and Crack calculations.

  • Track refinery turnarounds.

3. The role may also require assistance with the following tasks:

  • Risk management and market monitoring, as instructed and guided by traders

  • Liaising with crude traders in Houston and Singapore as well as products trading desks


  • University Degree in a Quantitative Studies (Engineering, Maths, Statistics, Physics or IT)

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Ability to develop skills such as strategic thinking, decisiveness and risk awareness.

  • Flexibility to operate in challenging and ever changing environment.

  • Well organised and good attention to detail.
