We are seeking a Senior Power Portfolio Manager to join the Power Portfolio Strategy & Optimisation team of our client, a global power producer and trading company.  This role would suit someone wth  several years' experience in portfolio management or trading and excellent commercial awareness.


The Role

  • Reporting to Head of Power Portfolio Strategy & Optimisation Nordic
  • Work with a team of expert accountable for the commercial steering and optimisation of Client’s Nordic Power portfolio
  • Drive the profitability of the end-to-end Power business in Nordic, by understanding and influencing the commercial risk exposures our client faces, and implementing Nordic hedging strategies to manage these risks
  • Undertake fundamental and quantitative analysis to develop a fundamental view of relevant commodity markets along the entire curve exchanging closely with team members and analysis functions to share know-how and market views
  • Communicate required hedging actions to traders to ensure changes in the asset portfolio are hedged effectively and value capture is maximise
  • Co-operate closely with originators to develop and assess trade proposals to derive commercial opportunities in order to manage portfolio risk exposures effectively
  • Perform daily portfolio management tasks; daily position management, risk and performance monitoring - ensuring portfolios are positioned within corporate parameters and guidelines and track within performance expectations
Skills and Experience
  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject: e.g. engineering, economics, mathematics; additional commercial management qualification advantageous
  • Several years’ experience in portfolio management or trading, with PnL responsibility, preferably with experience in the Nordic and Continental European physical and financial energy market
  • Excellent commercial awareness and motivation paired with strong initiative and motivation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that emphasize a logical approach to tackle new ideas, sorting information and discovering creative solution
  • Good communicational skills and experience of operating in an international environment
  • Awareness of IT applications for optimization & trading
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including maturity, an ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, and with a sense of humour
  • Fluency in English is essential; other EU language would be appreciated
