This well known Integrated Oil Company in London is looking to hire an experienced Tanker Charterer in their London office.

The role is within the Chartering & Operations department and fully integrated into the Crude & Products team. You will have responsibility for managing the company's spot requirements and be expected to share knowledge and experience with other members of Chartering & Shipping Operations team.

Working closely with the Front Office, providing efficient and pro-active support and real-time update on shipping market information;
Working close with scheduling functions for optimizing time charter fleet assigned to trading;
Keeping the fixtures documentation with all latest data;
Managing chartering spot process working closely with traders;
Maintaining a good relationship with internal clients and counterparties;
Dealing with adhoc requests related to chartering activities.

Assist to the Chartering Manager in day-to-day chartering activities;
Support Chartering, Operations & moreover internal Trading teams in sourcing optimal tonnages at market freight rates to export destinations & manage risks in all shipments;
Plan, develop and manage the chartering activities of the various trade routes & optimize the earning capacity of the company's fleet;
Meet trading requirements in securing vessels at optimal freight rates for their intended sales;
Defend shipments claims (eg. demurrage, shortage, contamination etc);
Obtain optimal returns for the company's tonnages through working with trading teams & internal shippers by reducing voyage expenses
Identify and develop new/potential chemical & oil charterers for return cargo;
Assist in the deployment of company fleet when required;
Post fixture skills in keeping real time reliable fixture documentation for transparency and compliance needs;
Negotiate the best possible rate for clients and present proposals providing the details of how the prices were achieved as well as the profit margin;
Provide guidance to Clients on proposed shipping ventures, investment opportunities & market trends;
Deal with spot and/or time charters, crude oil, chemical tankers and gas tankers;
In coordination with tanker chartering and operations departments ensure maximum utilisation of vessels, number of port calls and estimated voyage financial results;
Maintain cooperative relationship with local and overseas customers/shipowners, arrange regular meetings/visits and develop network further;
Keep up-to-date knowledge of the market and perform market intelligence research for the Clients;
Assist Management and the team with ad hoc requests.


This position reports to the Chartering Manager and has the following interactions:
Internal - front office, shipping, legal, contracts, back office, credit and middle office on a daily basis;
External - counterparties, terminals, ship-owners etc.

Knowledge of tanker chartering (liquid bulk cargo) & contract management knowledge of chemical tankers and gas tankers would be advantageous;
Knowledge of Incoterms and experience of General Terms and Conditions of major oil trading;
5 years of experience in a similar role in trading environment and/or operational experience;
Commercial awareness;
Experience working in a global organisation;
Strong communication, negotiation & influencing skills;
Ability to build and nurture effective relationships internally and externally;
Strategic thinking with good marketing skills;
Practical problem solving skills (both commercial or operational issues);

Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite;
Availability for business travel.
