Coordinate analysis, ownership and communication across the business in order to facilitate good decision making at all levels optimising key areas of operation. Focus on the decision making process in Operations and Trading & Optimisation areas adding value to the business wherever possible.

Responsible for:
Optimisation between the Operations, Logistics, Fuel and Trading areas of the business, ensuring they all work together to realise maximum value for the business within the limitations of REMIT
Key player in Trading decision-making regarding the scheduling of the station
Enabling the business to make decisions on outages and the operating regime with a full understanding of the commercial impact
Planning in a window which ranges from in day out to a number of years ahead
Optimisation lead on IT development and projects, including project board representation

Key Accountabilities:
Liaise between Trading, Logistics and Operations functions to ensure good cooperation and mutual understanding of operational plans and the various requirements of different business areas within the limitations of REMIT
Ownership of the Short Run Marginal Cost process, coordinating information from a large number of teams across site
Input to weekly Operations and Trading Meetings to ensure understanding of live issues and communicate information received back into the Trading and Optimisation teams as necessary
Contribute to the weekly Balances Meetings where operational plans for fuel delivery and handling, power generation and trading are communicated and coordinated across the business
Support, innovate and logically help solve issues and overcome obstacles to Drax's on-going business development
Identify and report upwards the value added to the business by the wider optimisation effort
Ensure desk processes are regularly reviewed and updated and help maintain a good breadth of knowledge and skills within the Portfolio Optimisation Team and the wider Trading and Optimisation team
Lead on Optimisation IT projects e.g. new scheduler

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent and can demonstrate relevant experience in an Operations, analytical or commercial role
Good team worker with good interpersonal, communication and mediation skills; the ability to find the best compromise between conflicting requirements and persuade stakeholders of the result
Proactive approach to communication and coordination, simplifying complicated messages as required for everybody's common understanding
Good Excel spreadsheet modelling skills and fully IT-literate; able to pick up and understand new systems quickly and well
Detailed, demonstrating an ability to understand and model/analyse information returning an accurate report or model free of errors or needing further work/correction
Broad understanding of logistics and the practicalities of an Operations environment possibly at a power station
Ability to work under pressure and to coordinate many different issues in a constantly changing environment
Ability to self-motivate and to motivate those around them to drive projects through to their conclusion

Effective and efficient coordination of inter-departmental business operations
Mutual satisfaction between stakeholders that a well optimised plan is in place
Enthusiasm across the business for tackling problems; people contacting you proactively for help seeking the best solution
Ensure the Head of Portfolio Optimisation and/or the Trading and Optimisation Director are able to demonstrate at a senior management level 'real-world' problems and obstacles are being overcome in the Operations/commercial areas of the business with efficient and effective communication taking place at all levels of the business
