Job Title: Senior Technical Support Technologist - Engine Oils

Our client, a global developer and manufacturer of chemical additive packages are looking to expand their Technical Service Support Team with the appointment of a Senior Technologist. With a Chemistry / Chemical Engineering, or Science related degree you will
provide expert technical support and deliver solutions for customers by fully understanding their needs and applications then developing, and recommending suitable products. You will also be able to offer project lead capability to meet technology and business needs.
The successful applicant will be an organised logical thinker with excellent communication skills both written and verbal and good business insight. You will be a confident decision maker with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Any knowledge of engine oil development will be a distinct advantage in this position.
Establish an in depth knowledge and understanding of industry/customer test requirements, and associated specifications
Manage projects with Customer Technical Support stage gate process.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest technologies, customer needs, market trends, and industry direction.
Regular interaction with R&D, Technical Support, OEM's and Sales & Marketing to maintain an understanding of market trends, requirements, and applications.
Provide customer specific solutions, support and guidance through regular communications.
Develop and deliver presentations as required.
Work closely with R&D and Process Technology teams for specific product development and process improvement initiatives.
Assist colleagues in the completion of approval documentation and technical reports.
KEY SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES (Essential)
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or related field
Technical environment experience
Comfortable in a customer facing role
Project management experience

A solid understanding of Customer Technical Support functions
Timely decision making capabilities using a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgement
A good knowledge of general business models, practices and procedures
Good analysis and problem solving skills from a technical perspective
Excellent communication skills at all levels
Previous leadership and mentoring experience (desirable)
Innovative thinker, open to new concepts and process improvement ideas
Flexible to cope with change and multiple priorities
Strong interpersonal skills to be able to make good strong connections with customers & OEM personnel
Strong business and commercial acumen
A flexible approach to business travel as required
