We are looking for an experienced and professional account manager who is also comfortable with business development and has a strong background in chemicals.
Reporting into the European Director for Business Development, this role is home-based but will require UK travel with potential for some international travel in the future. The Business Development Manager will manage existing key accounts (predominantly multi-national chemicals companies) as well as identifying opportunities to work with new clients in the sector.
A competitive package is available to the successful candidate with a basic salary of between £55K and £65K depending on experience, company care, healthcare, pension and opportunity to earn a generous performance related bonus
Key attributes required:
A chemical/scientific background (ideally you will be degree level qualified in Chemistry or relevant field)
Relevant sales experience in the chemicals sector
Proven account management and business development skills with an appetite to drive new business and drive growth of existing portfolio
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An organised and methodical approach
Business acumen, high level understanding of supply chain, logistics, market trends and analysis, pricing, forecasting, working to and setting KPIs
A valid UK driving license
You will be expected to:
Develop and grow the current customer base as well as develop new client relationships – delivering increased volume and margin against realistic and challenging targets
Maintain and build contacts within the industry and use important reference data to understand market trends and competitor activity – Be an expert in your field
Prepare accurate monthly sales reports including P&L and KPI performance for own portfolio
Contribute to the company strategy and product development in line with client demand and industry trends
