We have an excellent opportunity for a Technical Manager with experience in the marine lubricants world to join a leading international marine lubricant supplier as Global Technical Manager. As a key appointment of the senior management team you will be accountable for the future development of the technical portfolio to ensure continued strategic business growth and report directly into the CEO/COO.

Leading a team of globally based technical experts you will be a seasoned Marine Engineering professional with excellent knowledge of marine lubricants, their formulations, and applications. Familiar with OEM approval procedures (major marine OEM's) the role requires strong leadership and project management skills , demonstrable analytical skills and the ability to create strategic technical development plans to meet market demands operating at a senior level.

Working closely with a team of technical professionals and additive suppliers oversee all product development
Drive continuous improvements and quality assurance through the monitoring of blenders and suppliers
Oversee key technical projects
Management of the marine OEM portfolio
Technical team management
Develop and deliver the global technical strategy
Represent the business at a Senior Industry events

Degree qualified in Marine/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
Experienced in marine engine 2-stroke and 4-stroke operations
At least 10 years' experience in a Senior Technical role, preferably as Marine Chief Engineer, or within heavy marine engine manufacturing or overhaul
Oil major experience is very highly desirable
First class project management and analytical skills
Ability to create and execute strategic technical development plans
Plan new product development activities to meet the developing technology needs of the major OEM and legislative bodies
Manage technical resources according to budget and project schedule
Consistently deliver high-quality technical leadership
Effective staff development credentials, awareness of training and development needs of subordinates
Be something of a technical specialist peer within the senior management team, perhaps an ex Chief Engineer
Excellent communication skills at all levels
A flexible approach to business travel and work commitments as a high level of international travel is required
Comfortable working with cross functional and multi -cultural teams
A motivated and pro-active personality
An excellent command of English, other language skills are desirable
