A Global Trading organisation, part of one of the worlds largest energy companies is looking for a Quantitative Analyst – LNG to join their Structuring & Pricing team.

This position is ideal for a quantitative professional with strong commercial acumen and good communication skills, who is keen to learn and develop in a front office environment with great prospects for career growth and development in the team and within the company.

The Ideal candidate for this position will be an individual with keen interest in Energy markets and derivatives pricing models. The role will require developing a sound understanding of the LNG portfolio and developing quantitative based solutions that contribute to its profitability.
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Working with structured traders and originators contributing to the structuring and pricing of complex deals
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis as necessary to support ongoing pricing/trading activity
  • Developing strong working relationships with the LNG commercial teams
  • Providing an interface between S&P and LNG commercial teams
  • Enhancing methodologies for evaluation of deal economics, risks and exposures
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the LNG pricing tools
  • Applying financial mathematics principles to evaluate non-linear aspects embedded in LNG contracts
  • Modelling of LNG markets features that impact the value of existing portfolio or prospective deals
  • Ensuring best practices are in place for pricing and risk management of the LNG portfolio

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers as well as stakeholders
  • Excellent understanding of the natural gas and LNG industry and markets
  • Solid analytical and economic modelling skills
  • Strong commercial acumen combined with an understanding of financial risk and option value
  • Solid enthusiasm for commercially driven problem solving
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, understandable manner to customer facing business units
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a trading environment
  • Ability to explain and defend the methodology used in the development of methodologies and tools
  • Pro-active in achieving results
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data
  • Python programming skills would be an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience of programming numerical algorithms would be an advantage
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential
  • Able to adapt focus in line with changing business priorities
  • Tenacious and results orientated, takes initiative and drives for closure
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and make decisions in a pressurised environment


  • Experience in the LNG industry
  • Prior experience of developing and using models for pricing of complex structured contracts
  • Track record of working effectively on tasks, collaborating with team members and stakeholders
  • Experience of working with large amounts of data and generate concise analysis for commercial decision support


  • Degree level education in a quantitative subject
